Why
Washington
County
The Wolf Hills Solar project site was carefully chosen, co-located
with existing energy infrastructure where it can best benefit
the electrical grid. We have also taken into consideration the
area’s solar resources and potential environmental impacts.
A Thoughtful Approach to Site Selection

Solar Resources
Virginia has significant solar resources. Much of the same sun that helps the local agricultural industry thrive.

Cultural
If cultural resources are identified, sensitive artifacts are left
untouched.

Energy Demand
In Virginia, renewable energy development is driven by the Virginia Clean Economy Act, which aims for a 100% carbon-free electric grid by 2050 and targets 30% by 2030.

Environmental Evaluation
An environmental evaluation was
conducted by a third
party to ensure that all environmentally sensitive habitat areas are carefully avoided.

Co-located
The project is co-located on the Wolf Hills Energy Facility, allowing access to existing transmission lines. This helps lower the cost of energy produced and allows the project to more efficiently serve homes and businesses throughout the region.

Protecting Viewsheds
Sites are chosen to protect viewsheds
for the surrounding
neighbors and communities.
